  • Lembeh Foundation
    Founded in 2018, the Lembeh Foundation is a registered Indonesian charity with the core aims of reducing plastic waste, offering education and economic benefits, and enhancing the sustainability and health of nearby communities on Lembeh Island....

  • Since its inception, the Lembeh Foundation has successfully constructed the Lembeh Foundation Trash Bank, Green Library and Learning Center. The trash bank enables participants to deposit waste plastic, which is then sent for recycling, in exchange for financial support.

    Through showing dedication to educating the next generation about the importance of environmental sustainability, the Foundation has official Green Library status from Green-Books.org. The Foundation hosts educational activities including learning about the rare wildlife found in North Sulawesi and about sustainability and the problems associated with plastic pollution.

    Each year the Lembeh Foundation provides school supplies, backpacks and school uniforms to children whose families are in need. The foundation supports 60 – 80 children each year from two different villages. The Lembeh Foundation was also able to support local communities during the COVID-19 pandemic with food, household and sanitary supplies.
