HSA is proud to announce that Jim Gatacre will be receiving the Historical Diving Society's pretegious 'Pioneer Award' at the 58th Annual NOGI Awards Gala November 15, 2018. In 1981 Jim, motivated by his own disability & subsequent recovery through Scuba, founded the Handicapped Scuba Association. Working with undwerwater educators from PADI & NAUI, HSA Performance Requirements & Multilevel Certifications were developed. HSA has been an independent Certifying Agency for 36 years Training & Certifying more than 10,000 Open Water Scuba Divers, Dive Buddies, Instructors & Course Directors in over 40 countries.
With Jean-Michel Cousteau & The Cousteau Society, the HSA created 2 films, Freedom In Depth & To Fly in Freedom.
HSA Instructors & Dive Buddies, supported by the Wounded Warriors Project, have opened up a new world to hundreds of Veterans!
