Join us to Save Our Seas & Leatherback Sea Turtles today!

Overview

Save Our Leatherbacks Operation (S.O.L.O.) is a US 501(c)(3) non-profit charity founded two decades ago by Dr. Larry McKenna to work with a village in Papua, Indonesia, to increase this sea turtle’s hatching rate. Now, thousands more Leatherbacks swim the Pacific and return to nest.

In 2015, S.O.L.O. started 11th Hour Heroes to expand efforts. Partnering with the Marco Vincent Dive Resort in the Philippines, litter was cleaned up and better fishing regulation enforcement was funded by raising marine park fees.

Project Komodo (named for the dragon that leaves not even bones behind from its meals) aims to clean up the Pacific Gyre using a unique approach from Dr. McKenna’s aircraft design experience.
