The Pindito is 124 ft. long and 29 ft. wide and is built in the style of the Phinisi, the traditional Indonesian sailing vessel. The Pindito entered operation in 1992 and is the longest continuously operating liveaboard in Indonesia. Since then, it has seen multiple refits and refreshes including an extensive refit of the upper decks, seating areas and salon during the summer and fall of 2020. Edi Frommenwiler, the owner, was the first operator to bring a liveabaord to Raja Ampat and is responsible for discovering many of the most popular dive sites. The Pindito remains at the forefront of exploration and innovation, leading unique itineraries such as those focusing on whale and cetacean encounters as well as exploratory trips to the most remote islands of the archipelago.
The vessel has 8 cabins for total of 16 guests. Each cabin has indivudally controlled air conditioning and en-suite. Ample storage can be foudn throughout the cabins which are named after Indonesian islands and decorated in tradtional batik style.
Salon and Upper Deck Seating
In 2020 the size of the salon was increased by 30%, allowing for more spacious dining areas as well as larger redesigned lounging areas. The upper deck received additional outdoor seating. Guests are treated to a curated selection of both Indonesian and western cuisine which is served in the salon. Beer and spirits are included at no extra charge.
Dive Deck and Camera Room
The Pindito's dive deck is at the bow of the vessel and provides dedicated westuit storage and lareg individual baskets for guests' belongings. The area has a stowable awning to provide shade or rain shelter. The three tender boats are accessed via stairways on each side of the boat and the crew will prepare and load all your equipment before the dive. A dedicated camera room on the same deck provides 100V and 200V stabilized charging with large worspaces and storage. Large rinse tanks are available for both cameras and a separate tank for wetsuits.
Operating throughout the year, the Pindito's itinerary is designed to have the vessel's location coincide witht he best tiem of year to dive a specific region. Among the destinations are Bali, Komodo, Alor, the Forgotten Islands, the Banda Sea, Ambon, Raja Ampat and Triton Bay. Special itineraries are also offered each season.
